At the Oct. 16th Village Hall meeting, the Mayor admitted that the current village administration is actually considering plans to put cellular antennas on the water tower. This raises serious concerns about the negative impact on health, aesthetics and property values.

Williston Park Water Tower Map Dr. Havas of Trent University cites studies that show an increased risk of cancer, as well as symptoms such as headaches, insomnia and nausea, when people live within 400 meters of cellular antennas.* Dr. Havas warns, “I think there's enough evidence to cause a concern. I recommend not allowing antennae within 400 meters of schools, homes or buildings where people work.” Map
Why, when other municipalities and community groups (including the good people of Williston Park several years ago) rejected the installation of these cellular antennas, are the current politicians of our village pushing this?

The International Association of Firefighters produced a document in 2004 calling for a moratorium on the placement of these antennae on firehouse roofs after numerous firefighters experienced symptoms serious enough to warrant medical attention, and to cause changes in their brain's functioning.

We oppose the indiscriminate siting of cell phone antennae in densely populated areas as long as researchers continue to be unable to prove their long-term safety to human beings. - SafeAntenna.org

Since February, Dan Currie hasn’t felt quite himself ... Currie couldn’t concentrate. He lost his train of thought midway through sentences. Then came the dizziness, nausea, and a tingle that seemed to stretch from one side of his brain to the other. Currie worked every day in his newly-renovated century home under the looming shadow of the Union Street water tower, which since fall has had a Rogers cell phone antennae on top of it.

Simcoe cellphone tower to be moved; Neighbors complaint of illness
Norfolk councillors have decided to get rid of a cellphone tower in the centre of Simcoe that residents say is a health risk. After hearing from more than 20 people in an often emotional five-hour debate Tuesday, the council voted to move recently installed Rogers Wireless Inc. antennae on the Simcoe water tower. “Council was receptive and concerned about the welfare of its citizens,” said Currie, who has been unable to live in his century home on Union Street because of symptoms such as nausea, headaches, fatigue and dizziness that he says are caused by the cell tower.
